The Growth Guarantee Scheme can support access to finance for eligible UK businesses through accredited lenders. The government guarantee supports the lender; it does not remove the borrower’s obligation to repay.
How it works
The scheme can support several types of facility, including loans, overdrafts, asset finance and invoice finance. The lender decides whether the business and proposal meet its credit requirements and the scheme rules. It is not a grant or automatic entitlement.
What to consider
- The business remains liable for 100% of the debt, despite the lender’s government-backed guarantee.
- Security and personal guarantees may apply, subject to the scheme rules and lender’s terms.
- Compare an ordinary commercial offer as well as a scheme-backed facility.
- Costs, limits and eligibility should be confirmed with an accredited lender.
What to prepare
The purpose of the funding, accounts, current trading figures, forecasts, existing debt and details of other relevant public support. A viable repayment plan remains central.
We can help explain the financial information behind the proposal. Swoop can confirm whether a suitable participating lender and product are available for your circumstances.
Read the current official guidance. Scheme rules and availability can change.
